In 2013, an analysis of 11 World Natural Heritage Sites situated in Africa, South/South-East Asia, Oceania and Central America were made.  Five of these sites were already on the List of World Heritage in Danger, and most of these had evidence from environmental groups that illegal activities and destruction of World Heritage Property was taking place there. In 2014, based on new data on forest loss in the 21 century (Hansen at al 2012), including enhanced satellite images (Landsat-8 was launched in 2013), revealed what has been happening during 2013-2014, and 3 new sites under threat were added from Central America, Oceania and Europe.
